1. Who We Are

KibbleCare ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that helps pet owners evaluate the safety and nutritional quality of pet food products using ingredient analysis.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the KibbleCare iOS or Android app.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Information you provide directly

• Pet profiles — name, species (dog or cat), known allergies, and dietary restrictions. Stored locally on your device only. Never uploaded to our servers.
• Scanned products — barcode values and product names you scan or type. Sent to our servers for analysis only; not retained after the response is returned.
• Payment information — collected and processed directly by Stripe when you subscribe. We never see or store your card number.

2b. Information collected automatically

• Scan history — stored locally on your device. Not uploaded to our servers.
• Subscription status — your plan tier is retrieved from Stripe using an anonymous customer identifier stored on your device.
• Device identifier — a device-level identifier is used by our app update delivery system (Expo Updates) solely to deliver the correct app version to your device. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
• Crash reports — if the app crashes, a diagnostic report may be sent automatically. These reports contain technical details only (no personal information) and are used to fix bugs.

2c. Device permissions we request

• Camera — barcode scanning only. No images are recorded, stored, or transmitted.
• Vibration / Haptics — scan-success feedback only.

We do not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, or photo library.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To analyze pet food ingredients and return a safety score and detailed report.
• To apply your pet's allergy and dietary profile when generating ingredient alerts.
• To manage your subscription and unlock paid features.
• To deliver FDA pet food recall alerts from public government data.
• To deliver over-the-air app updates using your device identifier.
• To diagnose and fix crashes using anonymous technical reports.

We do not use your information for targeted advertising and we do not build advertising profiles.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with data brokers, advertising networks, or analytics platforms. We share data only with the following service providers, and only as needed to operate the app:

Stripe, Inc. (Payment Processing)

When you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is processed directly by Stripe. Stripe may collect your payment card details, billing address, and a device identifier for fraud prevention. OpenAI, LLC (Ingredient Analysis)

Product names and ingredient lists are sent to OpenAI to generate safety assessments. No personal information is included in these requests. OpenAI does not use API-submitted data to train its models. OpenAI Privacy Policy

Expo / Expo Updates (App Delivery)

Our app delivery infrastructure uses a device identifier to push the correct app version to your device. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is not used for advertising. Expo Privacy Policy

U.S. Food & Drug Administration (Recall Data)

Recall alerts are sourced from the FDA's public openFDA enforcement database. No personal data is shared with the FDA.

We do not share your information with any other third parties.

5. Tracking

KibbleCare does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. We do not use your data for advertising purposes or share it with advertising networks. Device identifiers collected by our app are used solely for app delivery and fraud prevention — not for cross-app tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

6. How We Store Your Information

Pet profiles, scan history, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. This data is not accessible to us. Deleting the app permanently removes all locally stored data.

Barcode and product name data sent to our servers for analysis is not logged or retained after the response is returned to your device.

7. Children's Privacy

KibbleCare is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us to request deletion if applicable.

8. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and deletion — view or delete your scan history anytime in the app (Settings) or by uninstalling.
• Subscription cancellation — cancel anytime via the iOS App Store. Takes effect at the end of your billing period.
• Camera permission — revoke anytime in your device Settings. Other app features remain available.

9. Data Security

All network requests between the KibbleCare app and our servers use HTTPS encryption. Because most data stays on your device, your device's screen lock and encryption are the primary protection for pet profiles and scan history.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
